Anne Toole

Anne Toole, Narrative designer, Writers Guild Award-winner, Member of IGDA (International Game Developers Association).


After her B.A. in Archaeology at Harvard University, Anne Toole has been a writer and narrative designer for successful titles like “Horizon Zero Dawn” (Guerrilla Games) and the "Curse of the Pharaohs" DLC for “Assassin’s Creed Origins” (Ubisoft).

From 2014 to 2017 she was on the Board of Directors at IGDA (International Game Developers Association) and currently serves on the Women in Games SIG committee.

Anne is also author of “Halo: Lone Wolf ”, a comic book series based on the famous video game developed by Bungie Studios and 343 Industries and published in January 2019 by Dark Horse Comics.

Fitting Writers into the Development Process

Game developers are sometimes left scratching their heads on how to incorporate writers into the game development process. This talk will take attendees through the stages of development to identify how a writer can integrate with the team and add value to the game, whether it be narrative-driven or narrative-light.
