Daniele "Danko" Angelozzi

3D Artist and digital sculptor

He considers himself a “2.0 artisan” specialized in 3D modelling and digital sculpting.

 

He began his career 10 years ago, when, after having invested the years of youth to obtain a degree cum laude and a doctorate in biotechnological sciences, he decided to throw himself headlong into a self-learning course focused on 3d.

Daniele has been the very first person in Italy who got certified by ZBrush as instructor. He has achieved some important awards in forums and dedicated portals and, thanks to the visibility obtained, he managed to transform his passion into work.

He actually works as a freelancer artist. Since 2011 he has been a Wacom Evangelist and as an expert he was invited to participate in international developer conferences, including the Level Up in Rome.

Approaching Portrait sculpting and facial anatomy

The workshop shows the basic theory behind a portrait sculpt in ZBrush and some examples of actionable approaches.

Starting from references, how and where to find great images, participants will be guided through the study of the facial features, that require the recognition of the anatomy structure which is useful to determine the main levels of the face, the grade of asymmetry, and the proportional relationships between the different facial features.

Using some examples and work in progress, the speaker will show some fundamental concepts behind a believable portrait, the impact that makeup and shading can have on volumes perception, the exaggeration of some features, together with all the steps that - from a symmetrical block out - lead to the production of second and third shapes, and the high-frequency details.
