CAMILLA AVELLAR

Game Designer at Supercell

Born in Brazil, Camilla got her graduation in Graphic Design at Pernambuco University in 2007.

 

Since 2013 she has been working as game designer at Supercell, currently designing on "Hay Day". Before Supercell, Camilla worked in other game studios, like Wooga Games in Berlin, where she acquired skills in developing casual games, mobile games and virtual worlds.

End game for a farm game: developing Hay Day's Derby

Simulation can be a content-heavy genre. It is easy to fall into a content treadmill, especially in late-game development. This talk will explore how Hay Day tackled its end game with the competitive Derby feature, the thoughts that went into developing it, the problems it was meant to solve, the additional problems it created, and how even casual players may be open to heavy competition if it's done thoughtfully.
